Years ago, Ebb Software unveiled the first-person psychological horror gameScorn. However, the game was continuously delayed, and is now launching on PC and the Xbox Series X.Scorndeveloper Ebb Software will be able to utilize the Xbox Series X’s extra horsepower to do things that simply weren’t possible for the game when it was planned for current-generation consoles, and game director Ljubomir Peklar has recently revealed one of the most important things that the new consoles are bringing to the table.

In an interview with MSPowerUser, Peklar said that one of the biggest features about the next-generation consoles is their beefed-up CPUs, as opposed to the SSDs that other developers have been raving about. Peklar revealed that one of the reasons whyScornis coming to Xbox Series Xinstead of Xbox One is due to the CPU discrepancies. Ebb Software wantsScornto run at 60 frames per second, but that wouldn’t be possible on Xbox One “without big sacrifices.”

When it comes to CPUs, theXbox Series X CPU is slightly betterthan what the PS5 is bringing to the table. However, some developers have touted the PS5’s superior SSD as being more important in the grand scheme of things, but that remains to be seen. We’ll have a better idea of how the two consoles compare once they’re actually out in the open, which should happen at some point this holiday season, barring any unforeseen delays.

In the meantime, Peklar touched more on how his upcomingXbox Series X console exclusive gamewill take advantage of the console’s powerful CPU. “Next-gen is about responsiveness, smoothness, and a lot less time-wasting.”

Peklar acknowledged that those kinds of features and advantages are difficult to convey through things like videos and screenshots, which is partly why there was so much backlash to theXbox Series X Inside Xbox eventwhereScornwas announced for the console. “Microsoft had some messaging problems,” Peklar admitted.

While Microsoft may have faced some backlash after its Inside Xbox presentation,Scornreally came out ahead. Despite the game having originally been announced years ago, there is renewed enthusiasm following its Inside Xbox reveal, with many touting it as one of the most excitingnext-gen horror gamesin development. HopefullyScornwill have something more substantial to show fans sooner rather than later.
