Summary
A prominentSegaleaker with a reliable track record has revealed some more information regarding a possibleVirtua Fighterreboot and the upcomingStreets of Rage Revolution. These two franchises are a part ofSega’s initiative to bring back its classic IPs into the limelight and re-imagine them for modern audiences. A brief teaser trailer was shown at The Game Awards 2023, which highlighted new entries for classic Sega IPs likeJet Set Radio,Crazy Taxi, andStreets of Rage.
After this reveal, details about these new Sega titles have been rather light, aside fromSega stating that some of these reboots are AAA titlesand giving a brief synopsis of what to expect. A prominent leaker of Sega’s properties, Midori, has provided fans with plenty of information regarding these reboots. Midori has leaked some new information about Sega’s plans forStreets of RageandVirtua Fighteras well.

In a new tweet posted to Midori’s account, she claimsthe upcomingStreets of Rage Revolution, one of the games revealed at The Game Awards 2023, is being developed by a Canadian game development studio. Along with that, aStreets of Ragemobile title is also in development. The other big claim she put forward is that a newVirtua Fighterwill be revealed later this year.
New Streets of Rage and Virtua Fighter Details
Midori had previouslyleaked details about a newVirtua Fighterearlier this month, claiming the game is going to be an online and esports-focused fighting game, following the same competitive-focused shift seen in competing fighting games likeTekken 8andStreet Fighter 6. She also claims it is planned to incorporate an offline story mode and new characters and will be released on all major platforms.
Midori’s claims about the newStreets of Ragetitle have some merit as well, as many were able to pin down the specific developer. Rumors from 2023 said thatStreets of Rage Revolutionwas being developed by Komi Games, the developer of the 20213D arena fighting game,Mighty Fight Federation. This theory held water, due to the similar-looking engines ofMighty Fight FederationandStreets of Rage Revolution’s pre-release footage, with Komi Games also being located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to boot. Midori confirmed that the developer was Komi Games in a follow-up tweet.

Fans have theorized thatSega will likely reveal this newVirtua Fighterat the upcoming EVO 2024. Other fans were also glad to hear Midori confirmStreets of Rage Revolution’s developer, though they have also been cautiously optimistic about how the new game looks and plays based on the pre-release footage. That said, while Midori has had an incredibly reliable track record, fans should still wait until Sega gives a more official update about these games.
