TheSerious Samseries recently returned withSerious Sam 4and the next standalone experience has been confirmed by Devolver Digital as an expansion calledSerious Sam: Siberian Mayhem. The chapter can be played separately fromSerious Sam 4or as a complementary piece for it and the expansion will include new weapons, gadgets, vehicles, and new enemies.
Devolver Digitaland Croteam have teamed up with Timelock Studio to create the new title which is set to release later this month on January 25. The chapter takes place in the endless cold landscape of Russia as Sam Stone on a journey to track down the evasive General Brand.Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhemoffers five new levels which range from an abandoned ghost town to frigid Arctic coastlines, giving fans of the series some variety to the newSerious Samexpansion.

New enemies and bosses join the franchise withSiberian Mayhemand according to developers, they’ll be more advanced and imposing than creatures inSerious Sam 4. Included with the new arsenal of weapons are the classic RussianAK Assault Rifleand an experimental crossbow known as Perun which will giveSerious Samfans more potential ways to change up how they conquer their foes. Although the developer has mentioned new gadgets and vehicles inSiberian Mayhem, none have been confirmed like the two new weapons.
TheSerious Sam: Siberian Mayhemreveal trailerreleased by Devolver Digitalgave a glimpse into what fans of the series can expect from the upcoming expansion, showing a few waves of previously undisclosed enemies. One of the scenes focused on a group of small green creatures that dart around the battlefield while spitting poison from their mouths and another showed an equally fast group of humanoids that resemble Marvel’s Wolverine. Although some monsters in the trailer look large enough to be bosses, most are shown repeatedly which suggests many of the foes inSiberian Mayhemare intimidatingly large.
Similar toSerious Sam 4,Siberian Mayhemoffers side-missions that will allow players to uncover new chronicles to learn more about the version of Russia featured in the game. Croteam has also suggested that the expansion has some environmental storytelling and it may include hidden collectibles as it’s teased several hidden details in the maps. The areas dotting the Russian landscape of Siberian Mayhem also include new outcasts to meet and interact with along this adventure to Tunguska.
Considering the fact thatSerious Sam: Siberian Mayhemreleases in a matter of weeks,Serious Sam 4fans don’t have long to wait, while some may still be exploring the conversion mod thatturns the game intoBlade Runner. Even though many members ofSerious Sam: Siberian Mayhem’s bestiary were teased in the recent trailer, it’s currently unclear if any bosses are among them. The official cover art from Devolver Digital teases a large figure threatening Sam with a flamethrower, which may be one of the encounters in the new chapter.
