After Mixer’s permanent shutdown, a lot of the streamers that had moved to the service are now free to stream wherever and whatever they like.Ninja moved back to Twitch, and it looks like Shroud may be moving back to streaming the gameValorant.
Streamer Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek is a massively popular streamer from Canada. He was signed to Mixer, moving his streaming over to the now-defunct platform in Fall 2019. WhenMixer shut down June 22nd with a sad goodbye, Shroud Tweeted out: “I appreciate the Mixer community and everything I’ve been able to do on the platform. I love you guys and am figuring out my next steps.” It’s been mostly radio silence from Shroud since then, with the exception of two cryptic gif Tweets.

Since June 22nd, Shroud has Tweeted out two things: both have been gifs of violent gameplay reflected in a gun and in a knife. Both of these areValorant-themed, the 5v5 game that Shroud was once at the top of. Shroud once stated that his obligations to stream with Mixer through his contract prevented him from being able to play as muchValorantas he needed to stay on top. But now that he’s a free agent, he will be able to return toValorantif he chooses.
With rumors that bothNinja and Shroud have made millions off of Mixer’s shutdown, Shroud probably doesn’t have to go back to streaming any time soon to stay financially stable. But these two Tweets, hinting a possible return toValorant, are perhaps a desire to return to the game to make a go at going pro. Perhaps the streamer is looking tostart streamingValorantnow that he’s a free agent.
But if he does decide to return to streaming, it’s unknownwhich streaming service Shroud would choose. There is a possibility he could return to Twitch. Or perhaps he isn’t looking to return to streaming at all, instead of devoting all his time to playingValorantin an attempt to make it to the top.
Whatever Shroud’s plans, it doesn’t look like those plans include moving to Facebook Gaming with Microsoft. When Microsoft closed down Mixer, they moved to start a relationship with Facebook gaming. But it doesn’t look like some of the world’s biggest streamers will be following. Rumors say that bothNinja and Shroud rejected contracts to stream with Facebookafter their break with Mixer.
