How to Complete the Fall of Lanitra Investigation
Trigger the Investigation in Lanitra
After hearing rumors regarding Lanitra in the pirate den of Sainte-Anne, you can trigger the Fall of Lanitra investigation by travelling to the outpost of Lanitra, which is on the Red Isle, to the north of Saint-Anne. Tofind the newspaperand trigger the investigation, simply dock at Lanitra and follow these directions;
The newspaper will trigger the beginning of the investigation and offer you a clue that sends you to the outpost of Guerande.

Plunder Guerande for Intel
After you have found the newspaper, you will need to locate andtravel to Guerande. Fortunately, the outpost is fairly easy to found, as it is a short distance to the south of Sainte-Anne. If you want to cut down on how long it takes you to get their, you can useSkull and Bones' fast travel featureto quickly move to Sainte-Anne and sail to the outpost from there.
Once you have arrived at Guerande, you will need to bringyour ship close enoughto interact with the outpost and hold the indicated button toplunder the island. While you are more than welcome to fully complete the plunder and destroy any hostile ships, it isn’t necessary for the progression of the investigation. Once the plunder is triggered, you’ll be able to collect some loot, which includes the final clue about who is responsible behind the fall of Lanitra - none other than John Scurlock.

Confront the Culprit
Once you have completed the plunder, either byfinishing off enemy shipsor by leaving the area, travel back to Sainte-Anne to confront the pirate kingpin. Scurlock will be found in his usual place, his office just past the Saint-Anne warehouse. To finish the investigation, choose the dialogue option that confronts him about his role in the fall of Lanitra.
Confronting Scurlock will trigger a dialogue where you may find out more information about his motivation, and he will reveal that he was cut out of Schaduw’s booty, so he sold out Freeman’s kingdom for a bounty. He goes on to say that he will pay you for your silence, and the investigation is completed. For completing the Fall of Lanitra, you are awarded a chest and250 Infamy points.
