Skyrim VRis a must-play game for VR owners because it is essentially the complete world ofSkyrimbut with responsive, satisfying VR movement instead of a controller or mouse and keyboard. It’s certainly the largest roleplaying game available for VR systems, but for better or worse it is the same game players have experienced over and over again.

Skyrimowes much of its success to its modding community who have fixed issues with the game and introduced thousands of mods thatexpand and enhance the classic experience.Skyrim VRis no different with plenty of mods available that fix glitches, offer new interface options, and improve the sense of immersion experienced in the VR space.
USSEP (With The VR Patch)
One of the most important mods ever made forSkyrim Special Edition(whichSkyrim VRuses) is theUnofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch. This patch fixes an absolutely massive list of glitches, exploits, and issues with the game as it comes installed and is generally considered one of the few mods every player needs to have installed at all times.
The Patch as-installed doesn’t work withSkyrim VR, though, so theSkyrim VR USSEP Compatability Patchmust also be installed. Make sure to list the Compatability Patch after the USSEP files in your load order, or it won’tconfigure correctly on launch.
VRIK Player Avatar
One thing that is disappointing aboutSkyrim VRis the lack of arms and a body when looking down as players only see their character’s hands floating in mid-air. TheVRIK Player Avatarmod gives the player a fully-animated body that moves responsively in-game to the player, including arms that move with your hands.

It also adds the ability to grab equipped weapons by their handles easily, as they can be seenat the player’s sidein-game. VRIK Player Avatar is best played in first-person but it does come with the ability to runSkyrim VRin third-person, which still allows players to control their character’s movements and arm positions.
MageVR
MageVR makes the process ofequipping and using multiple spells, weapons, shouts, powers, and items much less annoying by reducing the amount of time spent in menus. It adds a backpack system that helps with accessing items on the fly. It also makes lockpicking more immersive and even adds a Glyph-Casting system.
With MageVR installed players can draw one of a huge variety of Glyphs in the air to cast the slotted spell or ability. While this mod makes accessing one’s inventory and abilities much more immersive, it does not pause the time in-game like accessing the menu and therefore makes it a bit more dangerous to rely on in the middle of combat.
Dragonborn Speaks Naturally
TheDragonborn Speaks Naturallymod adds a feature that was originally included alongside the Kinect: the ability to Shout with voice commands. It does a lot more than just that, though, as players can also say lines of dialogue out loud to choose paths in conversation, making the simple act of talking to NPCs feel much more real.

The mod has a very complicated installation process, though, so be prepared to spend an hour or twogetting everything installedand configured before being able to run this. It’s not only available forSkyrim VR, too, asSkyrim Special Editionplayers with a microphone can take advantage of this mod’s speech recognition too.
Ordinator (With The VR Patch)
TheOrdinatormod is one of the most popular, most extensive, and most impressiveSkyrimmods ever released. It completely overhauls every Skill Tree inSkyrimand more thandoubles the number of total optionsavailable as a player levels up. It’s compatible withSpecial Editionnormally but works just the same withSkyrim VRwith acompatibility patch.
It’s a mod that every avidSkyrimmodder should try because it adds layers of depth to the normally bland progression of skills. Skills across the board have been reworked and improved upon, and the new skills add complexity to otherwise underwhelming skill lines like Smithing, Illusion, and Pickpocketing.
