WhileSkyrimoffers players awide array of armorand weapons, it’s hard to imagine anything more excellent than Deathbrand Armor, available in theDragonbornDLC. Owned by a legendary pirate king of old, this light armor is superior even to mostheavy armor sets. And only the best Arcane Blacksmith will be able to find the pinnacle of this mighty set’s potential.
Haknir Death-Brand, who had never known defeat, could not find a worthy heir for such valuable armor, and therefore ordered his subordinates to hide its parts in chests in different parts of Solstheim. A lot of time has passed since then, and previously buried chests have emerged from the ground. Fortunately, the pirate king left some clues that will lead you to your goal.

Starting the Deathbrand Quest
The Deathbrand Armor pieces arehidden around Solstheim, where theDragonbornDLC takes place. But before you can find them, there are a few requirements you need to meet. Players need to find and read the in-game bookDeathbrandto begin the quest to find the armor pieces. This is only possible after you reach level 36. At lower levels, you can read the book, but this will not trigger the start of the quest.
Once you have reached the required level, head to Raven Rock and visit Morvayn Manor to find a copy of the book. you may find the entrance to this place just a few steps away from the large gatewhere you spawn after Fast Travel, so it is not hard to find. Inside the building, go up to the second floor and go through two doors. This will lead you to a small room. Look around and readDeathbrandon the shelf of the small bookcase.

After reading the book, you will begin the quest to find parts of the armor set. But before these locations will be marked, you’ll need to find the map. Go to the Wind Stone on Solstheim, and go northeast until you find a small pirate camp on the coast. Kill the pirates and search the captain’s corpse to get the map.
It is worth noting that you will also need a lot of lockpicks, since all parts of the armor are in chests, and these chests do not have keys. This quest is probably one of the few in the game where you cannot find an alternative solution. Therefore, increasing your Lockpicking skill oracquiring the Skeleton Keyis a logical step before starting the journey.

Where To Find the Deathbrand Armor Set
Helm Location
If you just received the map and are still in pirate camp, you can easily get Deathbrand Helm. This legendary helmet is in a chest on the outskirts of the camp. Just pick the lock of the chest sticking out of the ground and take your reward.
Gauntlets Location
To find this piece of armor, to go to Water Stone and get to the coast. Follow the coastline north almost to the very northwest corner of Solstheim. After passing several NPCs and relatively harmless monsters, you will reach a beach with several crabs you should kill. They guard a chest from which you can receive the second part of the legendary armor.
Armor Location
The next piece of armor isnear Raven Rock. Take the Earth Stone as a starting point and follow the coastline north until you reach some trees on the coast. You can find a chest near a fallen tree, and inside it is the Deathbrand chest piece.
Deathbrand Boots Location
Finally, go to Tel Mithryn and go around the rock to reach the coast. You will probably have to defeat a few enemies, but after that, you’re able to find a chest near a pile of pentagonal stones.
Deathbrand Armor Set Stats and Buffs
Even though obtaining Deathbrand Armor will take quite a lot of time and effort, the result will exceed all your expectations. First, this armor is lightweight, so it does not limit your carrying capacity. But because it is created from Stalhrim, an incredibly durable rock-like material, its defense is superior to almost anything, including many heavy armor sets.
However, the key advantage of Deathbrand Armor is not its high durability, but the mass of bonus effects received for wearing two or more pieces of equipment. Contrary to the expectations of many players, the effect of some pieces of armor is not static, but is cumulative with each piece. Therefore, wearing the full set rewards the player with 4x the effects of each piece of Deathbrand Armor and an additional bonus.

Therefore, based on the above, wearing a full Deathbrand Armor set will give the Dragonborn the following buffs:
Deathbrand Armor also has the potential for improvement. To get this opportunity, players must reach 60 Smithing rank to get the Arcane Blacksmith perk. You will also need a rare piece of Stalhrim and Ebony Smithing perk to be able to improve the set at a workbench.
