Star Wars: Ahsokais ready for its grand debut on Disney Plus, and now the highly-anticipated series has released the list of directors who helmed each entry in its 8-episode season. Through a collection ofStar Warsalums and new faces, this show will have an eclectic set of minds behind it.
Ahsokais effectively a continuation ofStar Wars Rebels, serving as a notable live-action follow-up to many of the franchise’s animated offerings that don’t often escape that particular medium. TheStar Warsseries features Rosario Dawson in the titular role as Ahsoka Tano, a former Togruta Jedi who studied under the tutelage of Anakin Skywalker before becoming disillusioned and leaving the order. But contrary to the focus on formerly animated characters, the directors involved tend to have more experience on the live-action side.

The new info comes from anAhsokaproduction brief released by Lucasfilm, offering information and context for the series. Along with refreshers explaining who Ahsoka is and what she’s been up to, it lists the directors on board for season 1. This includes series creator Dave Filoni (eps 1 and 5), Steph Green (eps 2 and 3), Peter Ramsey (ep 4), Jennifer Getzinger (ep 6), Geeta Vasant Patel (ep 7), and Rick Famuyiwa (ep 8). Some fans may recognize some of these names from previousStar Warsseries, notably Filoni, who has been a huge part of the franchise for many years, and Famuyiwa, the director behind several well-received episodes ofThe Mandalorian.
Green and Ramsey have also dipped their toes into theStar Warspool in the past, with Green directingThe Book of Boba Fettepisode 2 and Ramsey behindThe Mandalorianseason 3’s fifth episode. Meanwhile, Getzinger and Patel will be making their franchise debut withAhsoka. Patel is likely best known for herwork onHouse of the Dragon, where she directed episode 8 and is also working on season 2. Getzinger has different expertise with directing credits onWestworld,Mad Men, andOutlander. It will be interesting to see what they can bring to aStar Warsshow.
While Ahsoka is mainly known for her time in the animated seriesStar Wars: The Clone Wars, she also became an important aspect ofRebels. It’s how she met the Mandalorian artist and warrior Sabine Wren and theinformally-trained Jedi Ezra Bridger, who play integral roles in the upcoming series. Ezra was last seen pulling off a daring gambit by launching himself and the cunning Grand Admiral Thrawn through hyperspace into unknown regions, saving the fledgling Rebel Alliance that had been at Thrawn’s mercy. Now, Ahsoka is on a mission to find Ezra with the help of her new apprentice Sabine. But Thrawn is still a threat.
The list of directors is exciting, and it will be fascinating to see how they all handle what is effectively a live-action sequel to several animated stories.WillAhsokafeature some obscure callbacks? Will it try to keep things fresh? Only time will tell, but it looks like it will be one heck of a ride either way.
