A new rumor surrounding the upcoming Disney Plus seriesStar Wars: Ahsokaindicates that the show will utilize a tried-and-true plot device that’s been making waves in the franchise. No, Ahsoka won’t end up discovering that Thrawn is her dad or anything like that (presumably). But it looks like there will be a bit of a twist that will feel quite familiar to fans of anotherStar Warsseries.
Not long after Rosario Dawson seeminglyspoiled her character Ahsoka Tano’s return toThe Mandalorian, it seems there’s some more juicy gossip swirling around. This time, it’s about her own series. Fans have waited for a full Ahsoka-focused story since the character became a breakout favorite in the animatedStar Wars: The Clone Warsseries. The young Force-user who eventually became disillusioned with the Jedi Order sported a compelling character arc that carried through her various other appearances. Now, after making her first live-action appearance viaThe Mandalorian, she’s got a whole new story to tell.

Scoop siteMakingStar Warshas offered up a new rumor regarding that new story. According to them, theAhsokaseries will feature a time jump after its first 4 episodes. This is much like the animated seriesStar Wars Rebels, which featured a similar skip between its 2nd and 3rd seasons. But interestingly enough, the one inAhsokais speculated to tie directly intoRebels, with the first 4 episodes taking place before the finale of the latter series while the rest strives ever onward. While unconfirmed, this seems likely given how last year’sAhsokasneak peek teased some heavyRebelsconnections.
While Ahsoka herself starred most prominently inThe Clone Wars, she was also a regular presence onRebels(voiced by Ashley Eckstein in all animated appearances). After periodically helping out the main characters of the Ghost crew and even facing down her former master Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader himself, she got one prominent tease at the end of the series. After a significant time jump, she can be seen uniting with the young Mandalorian Sabine Wren to search for lost hero Ezra Bridger (who will beplayed by Eman Esfandi inAhsoka), who ended the series by jumping himself and Grand Admiral Thrawn into hyperspace to save his friends.
The time jump seems to have more connections than the ones within otherStar Warsseries. MakingStar Warsalso reports that Geeta Vasant Patel directed one episode ofAhsoka. Patel notably directed an episode ofHBO’sHouse of the Dragonthat featured its own time jump. While this is just a rumor, and there’s no indication of whichAhsokaepisode she directed yet, it’s an interesting little shared quality that may or may not have played into why she joined the project.
Keep in mind, while the rumor about the time jump seems to have some credibility, it’s still unconfirmed. So take it with a grain of salt for now. But whatever the case, it’s looking as thoughAhsokawill tie into more than justThe Clone WarsandThe Mandalorian. The newStar Warsuniverse is one of the connections, where seemingly no story stands entirely on its own. Maybe thestandalone success ofAndorwill end up being the exception rather than the rule.
