Star Wars Jedi: Survivordirector Stig Asmussen is flattered by the number of fans who constantly speculate and hope to see protagonist Cal Kestis appear in other media, such as last year’sObi-Wan KenobiDisney Plus show. This is for many reasons, including general fan hype, but it’s worth noting thatStar Wars Jedi: SurvivorandObi-Wan Kenobitake place within the same year, give or take.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivortakes place five years afterFallen Order, which in turn took place five years after Order 66. Order 66 took place in 19 BBY, so the upcoming title takes place in 9 BBY, which is the exact year the events ofObi-Wan Kenobi. Game Rant recently spoke to director Asmussen about fans wanting to see Cal Kestis in other media, though he notes that any decision like that is above him and his co-workers, of course.

Obi-Wan Kenobiis only one place fans have hoped Cal would appear, and there have even been rumors thatCal Kestis could get his own Disney Plus show. While nothing has manifested of those, it’s a recurring point of conversation for manyStar Warsfans. It’s very similar for Respawn, it would seem. “If other people are thinking about it, you can bet we’re probably thinking about it,” Asmussen said, “but in regard to any discussions or conversations, we’re just focused on making the game. That’s what we’re tasked with.”
However, these conversations do bode well forRespawn’sStar Wars Jedifranchise becoming a trilogy. While he has his detractors like allStar Warscharacters, Cal Kestis has proven rather popular with many fans, and his new, more grizzled look in the upcoming entry has been met well too. It certainly adds fuel to the fire that Cal Kestis is modeled after actor Cameron Monaghan, meaning a live-action jump could be simpler than, for example, animated characters. Asmussen and Respawn are clearly aware of this constant speculation.
“I read the same stuff on the internet that you’re reading, and you know, it’s flattering…I think it’s awesome that people hold this game in that type of regard where they would even consider that.”
Of course, a franchise as big asStar Warshas many hands in the cookie jar. Between constant rumors about the movies, TV shows exploring various eras and motifs within the franchise, and new video games being canon, the process really isn’t as simple as just throwingMonaghan into a live-actionStar Warsshow. When, where, and if it ever happened, “that’s for somebody else to figure out,” according to Asmussen.
