This year will be no different as PC gamers will now be able to plan their spending around these sales.
TheSteam Lunar New Year salewas the most recent example of the platform’s continual sales effort. Valve does not usually announce when Steam sales are planned to go live, most likely as a means to get gamers to buy games year-round instead of waiting for them to go on sale. However, some gamers have even created websites dedicated to predicting when these sales will next happen, though it seems that this may no longer need to be the case.

Valve has recently decided to announce the dates of Steam sales itself. Instead of merely announcing a single sale, Valve released a schedule detailing all the Steam events and sales for the first half of the year. The next upcoming event is Next Fest, which will give Steam users a host of playable demos to try their hand at from February 21-28. This will be followed by another Next Fest in June. The next major Steam sale will only take place on June 23 and will last until July 7.

Valve will now be able to avoid pesky leakersby announcing these dates itself. This decision will most likely not be good for social media pages and websites that used to thrive on predicting these dates as Valve has taken control of this itself.
In other Valve news, the much anticipatedSteam Deck is set to launch on February 25. The handheld device may be a serious threat to Nintendo Switch sales, as Nintendo’s console has been viewed by many as the best place to play indie games on the go. Switch users often have to wait until these games make their way from Steam onto the console, but Valve’s Steam Deck may subvert this process and steal sales away from the Japanese powerhouse.
