Though it’s not quite on the level ofBattlefield 2042,Call of Dutyfans have encountered more than a few potentially-problematic glitches in both therecently-releasedCall of Duty: Vanguardand the new-debutedCall of Duty: Warzoneupdate. Quirks and oddities are to be expected in franchises with annual release schedules, and, compared to some of the out-of-bounds exploits encountered early on inCall of Duty: Vanguard’s multiplayer, a new bug isn’t anywhere near as egregious.

Reddit user u/I_like_to_run__ posted a clip on r/CODWarzone that highlighted a weird bug they experienced on the new Caldera map. When mounting a weapon on a chest-high wall, they were suddenly uphill along the wall at what seemed to be a velocity much faster than the normal running pace. The extent and applications of the glitch aren’t known, but, if nothing else, it was definitely eyebrow-raising.

First introduced in the 2019 iteration ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare, the weapon mounting mechanic was absentinCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, but it returned inCall of Duty: Vanguardand caused headaches for gamers and developers alike. On launch, gamers who mounted their weapons on specific geometry could cause the heads of their character models to float upward indefinitely, turning many multiplayer matches into tremendously broken experiences. Worse still, the issue persisted for quite a while after the game debuted.

At present, thisCall of Duty: Warzoneglitch seems relatively harmless, but it could cause problems if it goes unpatched. At the moment, it may be useful for those desperate for a boost of on-foot speed in very specific circumstances, and it could potentially be used to get out of hazardous circumstances quickly, but, beyond that, it’s really only good for a laugh.

That said, those looking to experiment with the glitch may want to be careful. Activision seems to be eager to ban anyone exploiting unintended mechanics in the game, and the publisher has done just that to multiplayer gamers using the aforementioned “elevator”glitch inCall of Duty: Vanguard. Beyond that, a recent report suggests that Activision managed to ban 48,000 players across both games in a single day by way of its new Ricochet anti-cheat system.

It’s impossible to say exactly what istriggering this glitch inCall of Duty: Warzone, but, as ridiculous as a potential ban for unintentionally triggering a minor glitch may seem, its costs certainly outweigh the benefits.

Call of Duty: Warzoneis currently available for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One.
