Summary

Capcom recently released its first major update forStreet Fighter 6on July 24, 2025, just 10 days before the Evolution Fighting Championship (EVO) 2023. It came with a couple of balance changes,a new way to Drive Rush cancel, and the first DLC character of the game: Rashid, The Turbulent Wind. His arrival inStreet Fighter 6polarized the community because his Level 2 Super Art was broken on launch.

Rashid is a mix-up character, which means that he has access to a wide range of moves that keep the opponent guessing. He was first introduced to players inStreet Fighter 5in 2015. He’s kept most of his specials and V-Skill moves, like his V-Trigger I: Yassar, inStreet Fighter 6. This ability, which is now his Level 2 Super Art, creates a large whirlwind that advances in whichever direction Rashid is facing. Apart from doing damage, he can also use it to augment his special moves. Players have recently discovered a bug in this move that made Rashid nearly unstoppable in the right conditions at launch.

How Rashid’s Bugged Level 2 Super Art Can Do Almost Infinite Damage to Enemies

InStreet Fighter 6, Rashid’s whirlwindshould normally dissipate after hitting the enemy a few times. However, some players have discovered an exploit that lets Yassar go on for significantly longer than the developers intended, even if opponents block it. This can be done by doing the Arabian Cyclone special move to speed up the whirlwind and canceling it with either Rolling Assault or Wing Stroke. Once this is done, Rashid only needs to walk forward in front of the whirlwind to keep it active.

Using this exploit, Yassar can chip away at the opponents’Drive Gaugeand eventually their health when they burn out if they block. The only way to get the whirlwind to dissipate is for the enemy to take the hit or do a Drive Reversal. Both options are suboptimal, as taking the hit means receiving a painful combo from Rashid, while doing a Drive Reversal isn’t reliable as it relies on using meter. Plus, it only does white damage and a knockdown if it hits at all. Fortunately, this bug has been patched by Capcom, removing any possibility of whirlwind shenanigans during important competitions like EVO.

How Rashid Could Shake Up the Street Fighter 6 Meta Coming Into EVO 2023

According to the updated rules forCapcom Pro Tour (CPT) 2023, players can use characters released seven days before an official CPT event, which means that Rashid will be tournament-legal for EVO 2023. The competitive scene is split about this rule, as some players think that allowing a new character to be played in tournaments could wreak havoc in the bracket stages. This is especially true for high-mobility mix-up characters like Rashid, which even the best players found difficult to play against in the game’s previous iteration.

A new character release before a big event is exciting for spectators but worrying for pros. On one hand, it’s definitely fun to see Rashid upset pros who use currenttop-tier picks inStreet Fighter 6like Ken, Juri, and Luke. On the other hand, such upsets are frustrating for pros who have spent over two months training for matchups within the game’s base roster. Some have hoped to see this new character get banned due to the recent glitch, but it has since been fixed. As such, the thousands of participants in EVO should adapt to Rashid quickly in the coming days, lest they get blown away by his turbulent winds.

Street Fighter 6is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
