Subnautica: Below Zero, the sequel toSubnautica, received its full release and once again tasks players with exploring Planet 4546B. Much like the original game, exploring the alien planet is easier said than done, as there are numerous environmental hazards and terrifying predators for players to contend with. Thankfully, the playable character, Robin, is extremely resourceful and can craft numerous items and suits to help her survive the harsh conditions.

Unfortunately, craftingSubnautica: Below Zero’s suitsis easier said than done, as players must traverse the game’s dangerous ocean andnew arctic biomesto search for materials and fragments needed for blueprints.
Updated August 10, 2025 by Jack Pursey:Crafting in the Subnautica series is much like opening a Matryoshka doll, in the sense that when players find something they want to craft, they’ll often realize that the process requires far more steps than they could have imagined.

The Prawn Suit is a craftable vehicle in Subnautica: Below Zero that takes a particularly long time to create. To give players an extra helping hand, we’ve updated this list to include a guide on how to craft the Mobile Vehicle Bay, which is needed for completing the Prawn Suit project.
Reinforced Dive Suit
The Reinforced Dive Suit does exactly what it says on the tin, offering a more sturdy diving suit to protect Robin from hazards. The suit decreases damage taken by 50% and increases heat resistance from 50° to 70°. However, the suit has its drawbacks, as it reduces the player’s swimming speed.
Fragment Location:
The Reinforced Dive Suit fragment is located in theMercury II’s bow section, which can be found in the Lilypad Islands biome at around 250m depth.
Materials Needed:
Cold Suit
The Cold Suit is a fresh addition to theSubnauticaseries, as it relates toBelow Zero’s new arctic biomes. The suit is essential for traversing deep into the above water biomes, as it prevents Robin from dying of hypothermia. The Cold Suit differentiates itself from the other suits on this list, as it requires a matching helmet and pair of gloves to be fully operational.

Cold Suit - Fragment Location:
The Cold Suit fragment can be found in thePhi Robotics Center, which is located within the Glacial Basin biome. Once the fragment has been scanned, the Cold Suit Gloves and Cold Suit Helmet blueprints will also be unlocked.
Cold Suit Helmet- Materials Needed:
Stillsuit
The Stillsuit is handy for anyone who is growing frustrated at constantly having to refill their hydration meter. Unfortunately, the suit won’t completely eliminate the player’s time seeking drinkable fluid, though it will cut down on it significantly, as the Stillsuit converts Robin’s bodily fluids into Reclaimed Water twice per day.

Mobile Vehicle Bay
Before diving into the Prawn Suit section below, it’s important that players first know how to make a Mobile Vehicle Bay. Unlike the other suits on this list that are made at a Fabricator, the Mobile Vehicle Bay is what players need to finalize their Prawn Suit.
Players shouldn’t let having to craft a Mobile Vehicle Bay put them off obtaining the Prawn Suit, as they’ll have to craft one sooner or later to reach some of the ocean’s deepest depths as safely as possible with either a Prawn Suit orSeatruck.

Mobile Vehicle Bay fragments are located in three main locations, theArctic Kelp Caves, theArctic Kelp Forest, and theTwisty Bridges.

The fragments can also be found in Sea Monkey Nests. In a game full ofterrifying underwater creatures, it’s impressive that the passive Sea Monkeys manage to be among the most annoying creatures at times, as they can steal the player’s equipment. However, players can get revenge on the species by raiding their nests, which can be found in theArctic Kelp Caves,Arctic Kelp Fores, andLilypads Crevice.
Prawn Suit
The Prawn Suit differentiates itself from the other suits on this list by being a vehicle that the player enters, rather than a suit that they wear. The Prawn Suit was one of the most valuable items in the previousSubnautica, as it let players travel to the ocean’s vast depths and made them extremely tough to kill, regardless of which predators were attacking.
The mechanical suit isn’t as essential inBelow Zero, as an upgraded Seatruck is the superior vehicle. Still, the suit is certainly worth constructing, as it remains the best way to traverse the ocean floor.

Prawn suit fragments can be found in thePhi Excavation Site, Koppa Mining Site, Mercury II’s bow section, and Outpost Zero.
Prawn Suit Upgrades
The Prawn Suit can be upgraded with a plethora of upgrades that can improve its jumping power, increase its crush depth, and more. Here is every Prawn Suit upgrade and how to craft it:
