The following article contains spoilers forThe Boysseason 3.

After an exciting season finale,The Boystakes a break ahead of what will surely be another action-packed round whenever Season 4 comes to Amazon Prime Video. However, the power dynamics in the show have changed for good, and with that so does the future and what it may have in store for its protagonists.

Most notably,The Boyshave gotten their hands on some powerful original recipe Compound V and its V24 variety. This should briefly tip the scales in their favor, even if the gang was unable to capitalize and ultimately turned against their pocket ace, Soldier Boy. The biggest takeaways from that were Ryan finally embracing his biological father, Homelander finally revealing himself as the murderous sociopath he is before the world, as well as Victoria Neuman setting herself on a path to the White House. But ultimately, what does all this means forThe Boys, and where is the series headed next?

The Seven Looks More Like The Three

It goes without saying thatThe Boyshas plenty of comic book characterswaiting on the sidelines to join the cast at any given moment. With the Seven now being reduced to Homelander, The Deep, and a changed A-Train, recruiting some new supes has never been more necessary. Specifically, supes like Tek Knight, Mr. Marathon, and Jack From Jupiter have already been name-dropped in the series. These figures stand a better chance of jumping onboard, even more so if Homelander has to call on some former allies as the world turns on him.

WhileBlack Noir is guaranteed to come backand The Deep might be more easily manipulated, evenA-Train’s actor has hinted at a possible redemptionfor the character, meaning he could become a casualty or just one more defector from the supergroup. That is, if CEO Homelander still sees The Seven as an important concept, because his interests might lie elsewhere right now.

The Homelander On Campaign

The Boys’showrunner, Eric Kripke, has not been shy about the political ideals Homelander and his fans represent, and the superhero has adopted a more outspoken and combative style in his speech as the series progresses. Pairing that withThe Boys’comic book storyline, where Homelander eventually storms the White House, it would seem like the series is trying to arrive there eventually.

While her comic book counterpart is more of a useful fool, Victoria Neuman is a shrewd strategist, and the way she’s leveraged her frail alliance with Homelander will be key now that she’s become The Boys’ biggest target. Expect Dakota Bob to win his run to the White House, only to be taken out by the head-popper quite swiftly. And rest assured, Homelander stands to gain political favors or pure constitutional powers from that relationship.

It’s All About Family

Parental relationships are incredibly important inThe Boys, especially with the addition of Ryan as Homelander’s son, a wholly new character who’s able to bring out “the best” out of his dad. Ryan has been pivotal to all three season finales, so expect that trend to continue. However, there may be a twist that he could eventually turn on his dad after getting closer to him, and the series could even choose the young boy to kill Homelander himself.

Ryan is the primary driver forBilly Butcher’s desire to kill Homelander. He’s let down Ryan, and now that he’s running low on time, if he’s ever to kill Earth’s mightiest supe, he’d better take his chance quick.

Soldier Boy

Jensen Ackles was one of the best things aboutThe Boys’third season, so clearly he’s wanted back by fans and writers. However, with Soldier Boy now being a government asset, he could become a bargaining chip or a political chess piece over which Victoria and Mallory fight.

His body has been infused with the Russian BCL Red, which also makes him a prime candidate for sure-related experiments. Though he may not be nearly as important in the comics, Soldier Boy’s sole presence really raised the stakes for everyone in season three, so count on him waking up from his slumber.

butcher with powers

Butcher Takes Matters Into His Own Hands

After being given a death sentence by doctors, Butcher is living on borrowed time. Thus, it wouldn’t be odd to see him recur to the permanent Compound V to save his deteriorating body, or at least buy himself some extra time to fulfill his one true mission: kill Homelander. That sense of urgency will probably escalate ifHomelander obtains the political power he’s been cultivatingrecently and is quite prone tolead to clashes with Starlightand Hughie.

AlthoughThe Boys’series is much tamer than the comicsin most cases (say Herogasm, for example), desperate times call for desperate measures. Don’t expect a suped-up Butcher to kill all The Boys, but tensions will surface once Homelander and Neuman’s plan gets the ball rolling.
