The community over on Reddit has seemingly given up on any sort of constructive conversation aboutpotential features inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. They have been practically starved of content by Insomniac and Sony, instead taunted by an image of Peter and Miles side-by-side. This image was first released in 2021, and to date remains one of the few pieces of marketing from the game, still being pushed by the developer to this day. The community has responded with a bunch of hilarious memes, photoshopping this same screenshot of Peter and Miles into various other franchises. They’re getting creative too - Redditor Grey_Warden0231 decided to show the pair off as Jedi Knights Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi fromStar Wars.
It didn’t stop there. The subreddit is now filled with images of Peter and Miles edits, each as hilarious as the last. Redditor RecordingJust1021 took another approach, showing the duo as Mario and Luigi. Everywhere in the subreddit seems to be filled with many of thebest gaming duos of all time. It’s unknown when this will come to an end, but there’s no sign of it yet. It will presumably take a new trailer to drop before gamers revert to normality, and this could be a while yet.
It’s unknown when Insomniac plans to showcase more from the upcoming game. The developer ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 2recently asked for patience from anxious fans, but this recent development shows patience is running thin at the moment. No date has been given for a PlayStation showcase, but one could happen around June, around the time of Summer Game Fest 2023.
