The Sims 5could add a hint of intrigue by shining a light on one potentially exciting family with a dubious history. A good dynamic can put aSimsfamily over the top, and that’s more true when there is the potential for a lot of drama and storylines to unfold over the course of the game. The Sims 5has a wealth of potentially interesting households to choose from that follow this trend. However, there is one household that may not be well-known, but includes some elements that are rarely seen elsewhere in the series.
The Simshas some dubious households, likeThe Sims 2’s villainous Beaker family. While such homes may not be the easiest to manage, players who are fans of chaotic games may be interested in giving such households a try. Such characters often end up leading rather colorful lives, making the game unpredictable because a new rivalry or other incident could occur at any moment. While a lot of players like to build up their Sims for success, sometimes it can be fun to watch the chaos that a household can bring to the game. One prime example of this design would be the Goldbeard Family.

The Goldbeards Can Bring A Pirate’s Mentality To The Sims 5’s Social Scene
Debuting inThe Sims 3, the Goldbeards are a wealthy, connected family from Barnacle Bay that canbring more fun toThe Sims 5. The Goldbeards have a pirate theme that is not directly stated, but implied in several ways. First is their name, which is an obvious reference to Blackbeard. They also have a feud with the even more pirate-themed Inkbeard family, with the implication that the Goldbeards took the Inkbeards' lost treasure in order to become as rich as they are. That incident combined with both families having a fair amount of ill-tempered relatives led to the two having a bitter rivalry.
One obvious thing that the Goldbeards can bring toThe Sims 5is more of an explicit pirate theme. It would be good to havebetter lore inThe Sims 5, and embracing the Goldbeards' pirate origins could help in that department. The Goldbeards and Inkbeards wouldn’t have to be actively working as pirates, but the game could certainly give them more theming. Decorations like jolly roger flags, treasure chests, or even wrecked ship parts could add plenty of flavor. These sorts of nautical accessories could help the Goldbeard family stand out even more in the wild world ofThe Sims.
The Goldbeard family has a lot of qualities that could make them an interesting household to play inThe Sims 5. They are rich, shady social climbers, which already gives them an interesting niche as well as a built-infamily conflict inThe Sims 5with the Inkbeard family. If both families reappear in the same town, which would be likely due to their existing ties, their feud could be reignited into an ongoing plot for players to deal with. The Goldbeards are far from being saints, but they have what it takes to provide a lot of entertainment for players.
Even though the Goldbeards only made their debut inThe Sims 3, they have enough quirks and dynamics to give them a lot of potential to entertain players with their antics. The game could likely benefit from having the Goldbeards as the resident social-climbing rogues of their neighborhood, whichimproved character creation inThe Sims 5could emphasize. Like the pirates of old, they’re sneaky, ruthless, and motivated by riches, meaning that a big scheme can never be too far behind when they’re on the scene. The Goldbeards may not be the most famous family inThe Sims, but that probably wouldn’t stop them from trying inThe Sims 5.
