The Sims 4is still going strong six years after its release. EA has continued to release expansion packs and updates for the popular simulator, keepingSimsfans entertained with new featuresand DLC. But some of the features fans have been calling for won’t be coming to the game any time soon, according to the devs.

For some time now, fans have been hoping to see certain elements updated inTheSims 4. In particular, a wider range of skin tones and personalities, drivable cars and farming systems, andupgrades for baby Simsthat allow them to be playable characters rather than just objects. Even additions that seem simple, such as bunk beds, make the list of top requested features.

In aSims 4community update, the devs announced that while some of these requested features are being integrated into the game, many of the top picks will not be part of the next expansion pack. One element the team are working on is adding more diversity and representation to the game, including more skin tone varieties, by the end of the year.

The announcement also said that thenext expansion pack forThe Sims 4will be revealed in the coming weeks, and it is something the team has been working on since last year, meaning it’s likely to be a significant expansion. However, those hoping for some of the other requested features will be disappointed, with the devs saying “cars, babies, farms, and bunk beds are not part of this EP. We understand how important these features are to you but we want to be honest that they are not part of this upcoming pack.”

While it’s frustrating for fans who have been waiting years for some of these features,The Sims 4devs have been transparent in their answersaying “when we consider something for addition to the game we consider what it will take to update it meaningfully. Sometimes there is foundational technology we need to work through and sometimes we need to dig into designs more deeply to verify we understand your expectations. This work takes time, and we don’t update you on these projects until they become more real.”

It’s clear that EA is hearing fan concerns but that there is a lot of work to be done behind the scenes for these requests. The community announcement also updated fans to say that the team is going to make more of an effort to communicate regularly withwhat updates will be coming toThe Sims 4, so hopefully if these features go into development fans will be updated straight away.

The Sims 4recently got new content with the nifty knitting pack andStar WarsthemedJourney to BatuuDLC. However, not all fans were happy with theStar Warsexpansion, claiming that there are many more features that should’ve been instead of this expansion. EA has a licensing agreement forStar Warscontent so it does make sense that the expansion made its way to the game, but hopefully the devs can earn back trust with the community by adding some more requested features in coming expansions.

The Sims 4is available for PC, PS4, iOS, and Xbox One.
