It’s really difficult to picture Tom Holland in anything otherthan his Spidey suit, but the British actor recently revealed he had aspirations to put on the infamous Bond tuxedo as well. Holland will soon be seen playing a younger version of Nathan Drake in Sony’sUnchartedmovie. While that role comes with certain expectations from fans, Holland apparently started the process of being cast in the role by bringing Sony an entirely different idea.
The actor shared that he went into that meeting with a prepared pitch in order to seal the deal of him living out his fantasy of playing a young James Bond. Holland told Total Film (via Games Radar), “I had a meeting, after or duringSpider-Man 2, with Sony to pitch this idea of a young Bond film that I’d come up with. It was the origin story of James Bond. It didn’t really make sense. It didn’t work. It was the dream of a young kid, and I don’t think the Bond estate was particularly interested.”

Holland’s pitch for a James Bond film and his version of Spider-Man have a lot of overlap - this idea of returning to when the hero was the underdog or just getting their foot in the door. He is known for playing roles where growth and transformation are visible on the screen, and it appears that his version of Nathan Drake will be no different.
Holland is so skilled atplaying that angle of a naive, innocent, bright-eyed kid who wants to change the world - so it makes total sense as to what happened next. The Bond estate may have not particularly gravitated towards Holland’s pitch, but those qualities and passion that he possesses did jolt a creative endeavor. Holland stated, “The idea of a young Bond film sparked this idea, in turn, that you coulddo a Nathan Drake storyas an origin story, rather than as an addition to the games. That opened a conversation.”
With the current era of James Bondhaving come to a close inNo Time To Die, there will no doubt be more conversations about how to rejuvenate the franchise. The idea of going back to a younger, less experienced Bond is not a bad idea. Even if Tom Holland doesn’t find himself in the role, it would be an excellent way to bring on a new Bond actor who can feel distinct from Daniel Craig’s take on the character.
Holland will be starring inUnchartedalongside Mark Wahlberg, Sophia Taylor Ali, and Antonio Banderas.Although Holland may notbe living out his James Bond dream, this project seems like an absolute perfect fit for him.
