Because the Autobots and Decepticons can shapeshift between robot and vehicle forms, it is vital to present viewers with vehicles that not only match their corresponding Transformer but fit the film as a whole. Now,Creed IIdirector Steven Caple Jr. has taken to social media to showcase the Autobots' vehicular counterparts to be seen inTransformers: Rise of the Beasts.
TheTransformersmovie franchise has been releasing successful films for well over a decade at this rate. The first film,Transformers, was released on the 4th of July weekend of 2007 and grossed $390 million during its American theatrical run. After a string of Michael Bay-directed sequels that failed to garner much critical acclaim, Paramount took a different route with the franchise’s sixth film:the prequel origin storyBumblebee. That film boasted direction byKubo and the Two Stringsfilmmaker Travis Knight and actress Hailee Steinfeld, though by only grossing $127 million, it was clear that the franchise needed to be pushed in another direction.

Transformers: Rise of the Beastswill feature a conflictthat’s not between the Autobots and Decepticons, but instead between the Autobots and the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons, three factions that have never been included in a live-actionTransformersfilm before. The photo uploaded by Caple Jr., however, showcases the Autobots in their motor vehicle forms. The “squad” of vehicles includes fan favorites Optimus Prime and Bumblebee as well as Mirage, Arcee, and Wheeljack.
In addition to Caple Jr. as the director,Transformers: Rise of the Beastsstars Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, as well as Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, and Ron Perlman. The film was written by Darnell Metayer and Josh Peters, a duo who served as writers for the crime seriesBMF, with the story by Joby Harold, a writer ofZack Snyder’sArmy of the Dead.
Most action blockbusters feature a wide array of motor vehicles for thrilling sequences such as car chases. However, eye-catching vehicles have always been an especially important factor for Paramount’sTransformersmovie franchise.
Based on the image, it’s clear that Paramount has put in the work to have cool vehicles representingthe iconic Autobots inTransformers 7. Time will tell if the new film is able to achieve more critical success than films likeRevenge of the FallenandAge of Extinction, but a proud showcase of great vehicles is definitely a good start.
Transformers: Rise of the Beastscomes to theaters on June 24th, 2022.
