Earlier this year, Ubisoft outlined its final plans forAssassin’s Creed Valhalla. The first thing is a new roguelike Forgotten Saga DLC coming to the game for free, set to release sometime this summer, and an undisclosed final chapter for the game. Many are hopingAssassin’s Creed Valhalla’s final chapter finally explains how Eivor’s resting place ends up in Vinland, but first, of course, there’s the new DLC coming out first.

Although recent Ubisoft news has largely dealt with delays and cancellations, with someAssassin’s Creed Red, Infinity, andRiftrumors and reportsto boot, not much has been said recently about Valhalla’s plans for 2022. That may be changing soon. Although Ubisoft has not yet announced a release date for the Forgotten Saga DLC, it’s likely to be soon as summer dwindles down and the fact that it has now released a new gameplay video about the game mode.

In it, players will delve into Niflheim as Odin to battle Hel, to overcome an “untimely fate.” This new gameplay video gives a few glimpses into how the mode works, but more specifically goes over five things fans will want to know, especially if they don’t commonly play roguelike games.Assassin’s Creed Valhallaplayers will complete multiple runs to beat the game mode, scattered across the four regions of Niflheim.

There are plenty of Metroidvania elements too like shortcuts that players can unlock to make each run easier, and there are plenty of secrets scattered around too. More specifically, the video mentions there are hidden areas where players can find ability buffs that will be permanent from run to run. There are also hidden merchants who accept coin for newgear inAssassin’s Creed Valhalla’s new game Forgotten Saga mode.

The video also reveals players won’t have access to the armor they’ve unlocked in the base game and will instead have to gear up based entirely on what they find in Niflheim. This reportedly allows players to tailor their build, with some armor giving players stealth benefits inAssassin’s Creed Valhalla’s roguelike game modeor ranged benefits or so on. Players are also encouraged to make wise choices in terms of how they explore the region, visit detours, and even select their gear for a run. Once players lock in their gear, they can’t change it, and picking up a new weapon in Forgotten Saga will replace the original weapon for the run.

Finally, as with all roguelikes, fans should be aware that death is a vital part of the game. Some sidequests inAssassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Forgotten Saga mode cannot be completed in one run, and it’s going to take time to gear up and learn how to beat some of the bosses. Near the end of the video, players can see some boss fights they can expect, including the titular Hel and even adragon inAssassin’s Creed Valhalla.
