Despite releasing over 10 years ago,The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimremains one of the most beloved and revered titles in the gaming community. With its detailed environments, a slew of memorable characters for players to interact with, and a large variance in user agency,Skyrimhas a lot to offer its players in terms of content. However, many fans of the game would agree thatSkyrimisn’t without its fair share of technical issues.

Over the years, players have encountered a plethora of glitches and bugs withinSkyrimthat range from hilarious to game-breaking. Many of which are still being discovered today. For instance, one user recently encountered aglitch that caused an NPC to start spinning and fly into the sky. However, one of the more recent glitches involves one of the most iconic followers thatSkyrimhas to offer.

Over on Reddit, a user named SlavCevap posted a gameplay clip ofLydiatalking and following the Dragonborn, except her character model is lying down, assumedly dead. For many fans ofSkyrim, watching a dead character model not only talk to the player but follow them around with no actual movement animation is quite humorous, if not a little disturbing, to witness.

It’s odd that so many players have consistently encountered glitches involving Lydia in particular. In addition to this clip and many similar other examples, oneSkyrimplayer posted a clip where Lydia was floating in mid-air, seemingly possessed. It’s fascinating how there haven’t been nearly as many instances of these glitches occurring with other followers. Perhaps players just aren’t using any other followers apart from Lydia or are using no followers at all.

Not to mention that, for whatever reason, Lydia has become a figurehead ofSkyrim’scommunity of fans. There are over66 followers inSkyrim, and yet, practically everyone remembers Lydia in some capacity. Then again, Lydia is almost always the first follower that players will encounter in-game if they have progressed the main quest line ofSkyrimto any given length.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds forThe Elder Scrollsseries going forward. After Bethesda revealedThe Elder Scrolls 6back in E3 2018, there have been little to no additional updates regarding the game’s development. It’s likely due to the ongoing development of other projects likeStarfield, but with any luck, new information concerningThe Elder Scrolls 6will be revealed in the coming months.
