Destiny1players may not be able to access their accounts right now. Some players with accounts linked to Twitch have been locked out of the game and are receiving the Tapir error code. Theprequel toDestiny 2is no longer being updatedwith content, but it still has an active playerbase that is currently frustrated at not being able to play.
A Reddit user on r/DestinyTheGame started a thread reporting the error on May 20th. Some people commented and said they were also experiencing the issue, while others reported their accounts were loading up just fine. The issue appears to be affecting players who’ve linked their Bungie accounts to Twitch. Although this doesn’t appear to be as bad as theDestinyserver crashlate last year, players are still upset they can’t access their accounts.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first timeDestiny 1players have faced this issue. Bungie’s website defines “Error Code: Tapir” in the Help section as a sign that the server is down. However, some players are still able to access the game, and the general consensus seems to be that this is a relatively common bug that occurs whenDestiny 1players link their Bungie and Twitch accounts. Whenever this issue pops up, the general recommended fix seems to be for players to unlink their accounts.
Reddit user kiki_strumm3r complained that Bungie hasn’t acknowledged the common issue and seems to not be prioritizing helping players who experience this bug off and on. Other users chimed in to lament Bungie’s waning support forDestiny 1in general. Back whenDestiny 2was officially announced, Bungie announced it wouldcontinue to support the original gamebut didn’t specify how long it would do so.
Destiny 2has been praisedfor having a better story than its predecessor. In fact, one of the most common complaints aboutDestiny 1was that the game really doesn’t have much in the way of story at all.Destiny 2is also less repetitive and more challenging (in a good way) for a lot of players. Some might think Bungie doesn’t really need to address an issue in a game that is being played less and less, and doesn’t even have any more new content.
AlthoughDestiny 2is more popular, there’s still a decent number of dedicatedDestiny 1players who are nostalgic for or even prefer the older game. Bungie hasrewarded veteran playersof the first game in the past. If players still want to purchase and playDestiny 1, Bungie should give them the support it promised and allow players to at the very minimum be able to access their accounts.
Destinyis available to play now on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
