Summary

Warframemay be over ten years old, but TennoCon has proven yet again that it’s not slowing down anytime soon. The 2023 showcase gave fans a look at the upcoming Cinematic Quest dubbed “Whispers in the Walls” coming sometime in Winter 2023, but it also gave them a broad overview of everything to come inWarframe’s October update.

Dubbed the Abyss of Dagath, the update will introduce the 54th frame for the game: the titular character Dagath. She has a general “mother of death” vibe to her, is described as a Faceless Rider, and has a general horror-themed Dojo. Alongside her specialWarframe abilities, players will be able to use a blade and whip with her in combat, and they can expect some narrative around her origin from Grandmother too.

Though she may be the headlining addition toWarframe’s October update, fans can expect a lot more too. Among others, there are two big Quality of Life improvements fans can look forward to. The first is a complete companion rework that will rebalance how they operate in the game, removing permadeath, making them studier, and ensuring gameplay determines their return. Second is the long-awaitedHydroid rework, including a brand-new ability, which should make them more viable and more competitive in theWarframemeta. Another exciting announcement, though one with a caveat, is thatWarframewill be getting cross-save soon, just not in the October update. The October update will lay some groundwork inWarframe, however, to prepare it for Cross-Save. Digital Extremes expects the feature to be out before the end of 2023, and the studio is taking the necessary steps to get it prepared.

All in all, TennoCon 2023’s reveals are top-notch. Not only did fans get a look at the October update and upcoming Whispers in the Wallscinematic quest forWarframe, but developers also gave fans an extensive gameplay look atSoulframe. Devs explained a couple of the features and talked about its fantasy approach, andSoulframedefinitely seems like somethingWarframe(and general fantasy fans) should keep an eye on. That’s still just the tip of the iceberg. Digital Extremes has a strong timeline for these and other updates, such asWarframe’s Mobile release,Warframe: 1999, and more.
