A counterpart to Barbara in Mondstadt, Yun Jin will be a major part of the characters that represent the cultural aspects of the Chinese-inspired nation inGenshin Impact. However, despite her importance to the recent development of Liyue, information about Yun Jincan be fairly hard for players to come by. That said, Yun Jin is a character full of surprises, so players should be excited for her release in the near future.
Who Is Yun Jin?
While there isn’t a ton of information on Yun Jin so far, players should be aware that she’ll play a similar role to Barbara, meaning more for theculture of Liyue Harborthan the lore of Teyvat. To be brief, Yun Jin is an idol-like character that holds the respect of the people of the Harbor. Musical in nature, Yun Jin secretly holds a lot of interest in Xinyan and rock n' roll (though Xinyan eludes that she won’t admit it). Her portrait was released onTwitter on June 18, 2025, though she also made a cameo appearance in the official artwork from the Moonlight Merriment event back in version 2.1. As such,Genshin Impactplayers may expect to see her in the very near future.

At that, Xinyan also mentions that Yun Jin is a part of Heyu Teahouse’s troupe. ForGenshin Impactplayers that haven’t yet fully explored Liyue Harbor, the Heyu Teahouse is a business that has been largely left unexplored in the past. With very minimal exposure in the story, many have been wondering what the history with the teahouse is; Yun Jin may very well be a good insight into just that.
What Will Yun Jin’s Combat Look Like?
Prior to her info dump on social media, mostGenshin Impactfans assumed that Yun Jin would be aGeo catalyst like Ningguang. However, with her recent portrait release, this may not be the case. In the image, Yun Jin is clearly portrayed as aGeo polearm user.
This marks an interesting turn of events, as now fans need to change their image of the character entirely. Most pertinently, what will this mean for Yun Jin’s elemental talents? Polearm users tend to be more offensive, but this playstyle may not fit the character of an opera singer like Yun Jin. For this reason, many theorize that Yun Jin will have a more support-centric combat style, a route that hasn’t been fully explored in apolearm user since Zhongli’sinitial release.

What Will Yun Jin’s Lore Be?
Each character inGenshin Impacthas a history that ties to the central lore of the world. For starters, Yun Jin is the current director of the Yun-Han Opera Troupe. Currently, it is unknown if the Troupe has relations with the Yun and Han families that created the Prototype Weapon series, however, it is very possible that this is the case. Should this be true, Yun Jin may explore more than just the Heyu Teahouse, but also the very creation of Teyvat weapons andLiyue during the post-Cataclysm era.

In addition to being a well-respected opera singer with a sweet voice, Yun Jin also works as a skilled playwright. It’s said in Xingqiu’s voiceovers that she’ll even be inspired by a good beverage to write a play (which is the reason why Xingqiu keeps tea leaves under his bed, in case she runs out of heroic tales to tell). She also is said to be a skilled dancer and brewer, however, having to balance all of these roles leaves Yun Jin incredibly busy; it’s said that she often finds herself burned out as a result.
What About Yun Jin’s Personality?
While Yun Jin may be a well-respected individual in Liyue, this hasn’t left her with an arrogant personality. In fact, she seems to get along with most people in Liyue without being superficial. And her friendly personality isn’t exclusive to a few people in the Harbor, as she seems to get along withmischievous characters like Hu Tao.
In fact, Hu Tao mentions Yun Jin’s friendly, easy-going personality herself, saying in her voice-over that she even holds bets with the opera singer. Yun Jin also has voice-overs with Xingqiu, Ningguang, and Keqing, all mentioning how famous Yun Jin is with the people of Liyue Harbor. That said, given her tendency to associate with both Hu Tao and Xinyan more closely than other mentions, Yun Jin may havea more complex personalitythan fans originally expected in version 1.0.

Genshin Impactis available on mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5.
