Summary
It has been nearly four years since Sucker Punch’sGhost of Tsushimacaptivated players with its breathtaking portrayal of feudal Japan and the gripping tale of Jin Sakai as he transforms from an honorable Samurai into a backstabbing warrior of darkness. Now, fans who can’t seem to get enough of the Ghost anxiously await formal news of a sequel to the hit action-adventure game.
WhileGhost of Tsushima 2has yet to be announced, it is more than likely bound to happen given the success ofGhost of Tsushima. Barring its development and release, the title of the next game should consider how the first game ended and where it may take Jin and his friends as the famed protagonist’s next destination could shake up both the sequel’s setting and its name.

Ghost of Tsushima 2 May Need a Name Change
Ghost of Tsushima 2 Will Likely See Jin Travel to Mainland Japan
Theending ofGhost of Tsushimamade one thing clear: there is no reason for Jin to remain in Tsushima, as he has been branded a traitor and is no longer considered a member of Clan Sakai. Having helped rid the land of the Khan’s army and finished assisting each of his friends with their own ordeals, there is nothing left for him to do on the island, which could see him traveling to mainland Japan as a result. There is also Yuna to consider, whom Jin committed himself to near the end ofGhost of Tsushima.
It was always Yuna’s goal to flee Tsushima Island with Taka, although she was first required by Lord Shimura to help him and Jin retake Castle Shimura before he helped her off the island. After that was done, however, she devoted herself to helping Jin rid the island of the Khan’s forces and free the people of Tsushima. If she has chosen to follow through with her original plans to leave Tsushima, Jin will likely follow her, as there is nothing left for him on the island.
Additionally, Yuna did tell Jin duringGhost of Tsushima’s epilogueto remember that Tsushima needs him, implying that Jin was planning on leaving the island at some point.
If Jin does travel to mainland Japan in a sequel, it may not make sense to titlethe sequelGhost of Tsushima 2. Instead, perhapsGhost of Japanwould be a more fitting title. After all, it is not the location in which Jin lived that made him known, but his actions as the Ghost. As such, the name “Ghost” could very well carry over to the next installment, while the geographic location changes.
Jin’s Tsushima Legacy Could Still Follow Him to Mainland Japan
Despite the likelihood thatJin will be leaving Tsushima Island for mainland Japan in a sequel, his legacy as the Ghost of Tsushima could still follow him. In other words, he may forever be known as the Ghost of Tsushima, regardless of where he ends up geographically. In this case,Ghost of Tsushima’s sequel could retain its predecessor’s title. It’s likely Jin’s title as the “Ghost of Tsushima” has transcended Tsushima Island, so it would be reasonable to expect the people of mainland Japan to acknowledge him as such.
Ghost of Tsushima 2has yet to be formally announcedand is instead currently surviving on rumors and minor leaks. However, the chances that Sucker Punch is currently developing a sequel toGhost of Tsushimaare extremely high, as the first game was so successful the developer is arguably behooved to continue its legacy and a movie adaptation is in the works. Whether the potential sequel will be namedGhost of Tsushima 2or something entirely different also remains to be seen.
