A slew of well-written events coupled with the brilliant marriage of gameplay and story elements leads toWildermythhaving some truly memorable moments, with each character class feeling fresh and unique in their own right. The Hunter class lets players create sneaky rangers or flanking melee fighters who can deal some serious damage indeed, and here are some of the best ways to make a great ranger build using what the game throws at you.
10Ranged Countershooter
Countering inWildermythcan prove to be quite satisfying indeed. This is true for both melee and ranged attacks, with the latter being especially brilliant for how powerful it can really be.
The Archery ability lets characters do the same, with the upgrade giving a higher dodge chance. Avoiding ranged attacks and shooting enemies with an arrow is an act that never ceases to be satisfying.

9Poison User
Quellingmoss is a plant inthe universe ofWildermyththat causes poison. Having this ability on a hunter can prove to have devastating consequences for enemies.
Characters who have Quellingmoss can chuck a flask that causes poison in a particular area, which can be pretty damaging. This, coupled with natural poison on their melee and ranged attacks, turns these hunters into the biggest threats in the game.

8Damaging Hobbler
Hobbling an enemy, especially one that specializes in melee attacks, is a great way to hinder their movement. Hunters can do the same by using the Hobbling Strikes ability to great effect.

The upgrade to this ability also lets players hit hobbled enemies for additional damage, which is a great bonus indeed. All in all, Hobbling Strikes is one of the best ways to turn a hunter into a force to be reckoned with.
7Ambush Expert
Ambush is another ability used by hunters that doesn’t seem all that great at first glance. Having to use up a turn to set up said ambush instead of directly attacking the enemy seems like a waste.
However, an ambush has extra damage that can take down tough enemies with ease. If this ambush isn’t sprung, then the hunter gets a free attack for the next turn as well, so it’s all good in the end anyway.

6Firestarter
Ember Arrows is an ability that feels completely situational due to its reliance on fire. As a result, some people might ignore this ability… which is a huge mistake.
After all, the bonuses afforded by this ability are already great, and that’s before players take the upgrade. It lets them instantly move to a tile near them that is on fire as a Swift Action, letting them unleash fiery attacks with ease.

5Blinding Annoyance
Flashcone is the fantasy version ofa flashbang inWildermyth’s universethat lets players unleash a blast that blinds enemies. If a hunter’s Potency is great, then it hits for decent magical damage as well.
The best part about Flashcone is that it’s a Swift Action, letting players potentially deal damage twice in one turn — an extremely satisfying move to pull off inWildermyth. It also lets an ally enter grayplane if it hits them, with this effect improving with multiple hits.

4Melee Blitzer
Thornfang is a great ability to give to hunters who use melee attacks, which can be quite a rarity. However, certain players who undergo transformations that force them to use close-range attacks or get a melee weapon that’s too good to pass up on can definitely make the most of this ability.
The fact that its upgrade lets players get an action point back three times in one turn is truly incredible, and hard-hitting hunters can make the most of this ability. It essentially turns melee hunters into glass cannons that can absolutely decimate their opposition.

3Pinning Trapper
Jumpjaw is a great ability that lets players use a Swift Action to set up a damaging trap that pins anyone in place. The upgrade lets players use this move three times in battle and also shreds armor as well.

While Jumpjaw is a great way to trap enemies, players can’t just rely on it for all battles. Its uses are limited and some enemies might circumvent these traps too, so a hunter using Jumpjaw should also have decent defense and attack for this build tobe viable inWildermyth.
2Stealth Master
Stealth is one of the biggest parts of why a hunter is so effective in combat.Attacks from grayplane ignore all armor, and a character who’s hidden won’t be hounded by enemies either.
With the Rogue ability, each ranged or melee kill lets hunters automatically enter stealth. Killing enemies and hiding in the shadows is a move that is beneficial for obvious reasons, making these hunters feel pretty cool in the process.

1Through Shot Maestro
Through Shot is an ability that lets players hit two enemies in line with a ranged weapon. Hitting multiple enemies at once makes battles shorter andmore manageable inWildermyth, so it’s easy to see why some players would covet this ability.
The upgrade truly turns hunters into absolute monsters, letting them hit as many enemies in a line as allowed by their range. It’s easy to understand why the destructive capabilities of a ranged hunter would increase exponentially with this move.

Wildermythis available on PC and Nintendo Switch.
