Summary

World of Warcraftis giving some of its Alliance ships a facelift in Patch 10.2.5, Seeds of Renewal. While it may seem like a small change at first glance, it could be the first signs of the slow-but-sure world revampWorld of Warcraftis starting in The Worldsoul Saga.

As an MMO that has been out for 19 years, some ofWorld of Warcraft’s textures feel incredibly outdated. While thenew zones introduced inDragonflighthave been breathtaking, artifacts fromWorld of Warcraft’s early history are still found all over the game, especially in regions that haven’t been updated sinceThe Burning CrusadeorCataclysm.

Now, it seems like some of these old models are being replaced soon. World of Warcraft content creator MrGM and fan Portergauge shared someimages from theDragonflightPatch 10.2.5 Public Test Realm. The pictures show some of the ships used by the Alliance for fast travel between different areas of the world. However, the original low-fidelity ships from Vanilla have seemingly been upgraded to modern, high-definition versions.

Manyships inWorld of Warcraftalready use high-fidelity models, such as those that lead to theBattle for Azerothzones or to the Dragon Isles. While these boats didn’t need upgrades, their predecessors most certainly did, as evidenced by the drastic difference in quality when one looks at the original ship model.

At the moment, the zeppelins used by the Horde do not have a new model on the Patch 10.2.5 PTR. It is possible new models for these blimps could appear in later builds, or possibly during otherDragonflightcontent updates in the future. While there is no guarantee there will be one, it is safe to assumeWorld of Warcraftprobably wants to implement new models for both factions eventually.

Either way, it seems like these new ships are just one step towards the slow world revampWorld of Warcraftis working towards. While it is unlikelyWoWwill ever do another one on the scale ofCataclysm,MidnightandThe Last Titanare introducing new versions of Quel’thalas and Northrend respectively. While there is no guaranteeWorld of Warcraftwill go through and give every zone a full revamp in the future, the fact it is doing so in some regions already is a good start. This has led many fans to be especially interested in seeing whatWorld of Warcraftdoes during the rest of the Worldsoul Saga, even if they are still excited aboutThe War Within.
