Blizzard Entertainment is finally making white and grey items available for transmog inWorld of Warcraft. Initially added in the final patch ofCataclysm, the transmogrification feature has allowedWorld of Warcraftplayers to change the visual looks of their armor without impacting its stats. Whether it was from theirfavoriteWorld of Warcraftraid, from a quest reward, or even a crafted item, transmog finally allowed fans to establish a unique look for their character and still enjoy high-end content unimpeded.
Despite the freedom afforded toWorld of Warcraftplayers, there were a few rules to follow. One among them was Blizzard’s insistence on only making Uncommon items and above eligible for transmog, while the other was about restricting transmog within its own armor class. Though the developers still seem intent on enforcing the latter, the former will see its restrictions lifted with the release of Patch 10.0.5.

When Patch 10.0.5 launches,World of Warcraftplayers will be able to automatically add their acquired items of Poor and Common quality to the Wardrobe system. In the official statement released by Blizzard Entertainment, only items currently found onWorld of Warcraftcharacterswill count, meaning that deleted White and Grey items will have to be reacquired again before they can be unlocked for use in the Wardrobe catalog.
ManyWorld of Warcraftplayers have eagerly waited for the day Common and Poor items would become part of the game’s transmog system, and some have done a terrifyingly good job of preparing for what they saw as an eventuality. While there will undoubtedly be regrets on many items either sold or deleted over the years, Blizzard’s policy regarding item eligibility is more than fair. A good example of a Common set that could be easily reacquired are the Wandering Isle starting zone outfits fromMists of Pandaria, that have (in a way) served as the unofficial PandarenAllied Race armor inWorld of Warcraft.
It is important to note that these changes will make White and Grey items bound after they’re equipped, meaning that players will have to equip every single piece in order for them to register as an added appearance in the Wardrobe. With the introduction of theTrading Post toWorld of Warcraft, it would seem that Blizzard is committed in its goal to provide players an unprecedented level of customization inDragonflight. Given that many cloth armor sets look like plate, and vice versa, one can’t help but wonder how long it will take until Blizzard lets players transmog their gear across all armor types, as with this change, the question has resoundingly shifted from if to when.
