Summary

Many titles from Activision Blizzard’s back catalog on theXboxstorefront are currently on sale, and someXboxfans are taking this as a sign that these games could be added to Game Pass in the near future. Like the other platform holders, Microsoft regularly puts collections of titles from major publishers on sale, but in this instance, there could be something more than meets the eye here.

Ever sinceMicrosoft officially acquired Activision Blizzardin October 2023, many gamers have wondered when they would start seeing the publisher’s extensive library of games get added to Xbox Game Pass. With all the developers it’s bought up so far, Microsoft has maintained a commitment to bring its newly-acquired companies' portfolios of first-party content to Xbox’s flagship subscription service whenever possible. Unfortunately, though, despite it being more than 8 months since the Xbox acquisition was closed, most Activision Blizzard titles have yet to land on Game Pass. Thanks to a move that Microsoft recently made, however, some are speculating that this could change sooner rather than later.

A Redditor named JackAM_ made a post on the r/Xbox subreddit pointing out an interesting detail they noticed about the Activision Blizzard sale that’s currently live on the Xbox storefront. As spotted by the user, this publisher sale ends on June 8, which is “the day before the big showcase.” JackAM_ found this end date to be “very suspicious,” suggesting that it might be linked to a “bigActivision Blizzard Game Passdump” at the Xbox showcase. Though this may seem like a mere coincidence to some, this does seemingly fall in line witha report from Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, who alleged that “Xbox is gearing up for an announcement on its back catalog of [Activision Blizzard] games” at the Xbox showcase.

Several Xbox fans responding to the Reddit post seem to be convinced that this sale is indeed a sign of an impending Game Pass drop. Reddit user carloselcoco, for instance, stated that JackAM_ has a “higher than normal chance of being right, given that “this has been the MO for way too many games that end up in Game Pass.” Meanwhile, fellow Redditor Sh0ckLebonwski claimed that the idea makes sense, pointing out that “getting good sales before” putting titles likeCall of Dutyon Game Passis “actually good marketing.”

More Activision Blizzard Games Will Likely Come To Xbox Game Pass In The Near Future

A surprise drop of Activision Blizzard games on Game Pass during the June showcase would certainly be a big deal for many Xbox fans. After all,Diablo 4has been the only ABK title to hit Xbox’s subscription service so far, though rumors have circulated that otherclassic Activision franchises could be coming to Game Pass soon, too. Whether the publisher sale has anything to do with an impending announcement, it seems likely thatXboxfans will soon be able to play more Activision Blizzard games on Game Pass, potentially even upcoming titles likeCall of Duty: Black Ops 6.
